You probably already know that I am spending time working and enjoying life on the Côte d’Azur. It always inspires and relaxes me to be in the little studio that I rent here, so I am coming up with so many ideas for new Stories Café content.

You may remember that I previously quoted from an article by F. Scott Fitzgerald about living on the French Riveira called How to Live on Practically Nothing. When people ask me if it is expensive to live in Nice, I always says that it depends. One could obviously eat at four-star Michelin restaurants, but you can also just go to an artisan bakery and buy the most amazing bread and eat it with butter from Bretagne and a good piece of ham.
So yes, you can obviously spend a lot of money anywhere in France and go to fancy shops and restaurants and whatever you might please, but you absolutely don’t have to.
For me, what I really enjoy doing is this: Living as simply as possible and just breathing in all the abundance (cultural, natural, and culinary) that constantly surrounds one on all sides here.
Many years ago I was in Cannes and I bought a sandwich from a little cart down on the Croissette. It was seriously just half a baguette with butter and cured ham. And I remember thinking that I had never eaten anything that tasted that good.
So on the basis of idea of simply living your very best life on practically nothing on the French Riviera, I have created for you a slow, atmospheric, and VERY personal walk through Nice, one of the the cities I love and call home.
