Books, Candlelight, and the Beauty of Autumn

The days are growing shorter, the afternoons fade into candlelight earlier, and we are entering one of my favourite seasons. This time of year is made for curling up indoors with a cup of tea or coffee, a soft blanket, and a favourite book to stir the mind and the imagination.

It is the perfect season for everything connected with Dark Academia, Gothic novels, and what I think of as Cosy Academia: that sense of warmth, reflection, and intellectual nourishment that seems to belong especially to autumn.
